Shopping List Memory Game
SHOPPING LIST MEMORY GAME
The Shopping List board game from Orchard Toys is a fantastic product. The gameplay is immensely simple, but very compelling for young children and parents.
The basic premise of the game is to turn over tiles placed face down (turn over one tile each turn and try to match the turned over tile with the pictures on your shopping list. Players have to use their memories, observational skills and also learn turn taking as the game follows a standard your go, my go gameplay pattern.
There is an additional educational;/developmental benefit in that children learn to recognise every day items needed by most families from their weekly shop.
As we write this, it seems such a ridiculously simple concept but it is a very addictive game with significant play value for the price point versus other games out there.
WHO’S IT FOR: The age grade on the packaging for Shopping List suggests 3-7 years of age, which we roughly agree with. Clearly 3 year olds are going to need more parental guidance/patience than 7 year olds, and 7 year olds may find other more advanced games more compelling, but overall we agree with this target age range.
THE TOY VERDICT: We love Shopping List. It’s simple but engaging, kids enjoy collecting and the game has good educational/developmental benefits. Recommended.
